Composers in Red Sneakers is a collective of living composers that advocates the variety of aesthetic perspectives inherent in the creation and performance of music. Through premiers and presentations of new works, educational outreach, and collaboration with creators of other art forms, we seek to connect with a diverse audience in a vital and creative dialog about the arts in community, both locally and at large.

In the Spring, Composers in Red Sneakers teamed up with Italian Composers consortium Dal Suono Sommerso to present a pair of dance suites: each group reflecting and reinterpreting traditional dance forms of the other group's country. The concerts were a big success, and culminated in an interactive discussion between audience members, composers, and performers on issues such as the role of dance music in different cultures, the performers' approach to new works, and aesthetics of contemporary music in different parts of the world.
